Early bird seminar booking deadline looms, a fantastic, thought provoking guest article and current industry news

Door drop seminar

Our half day door drop seminar in Birmingham on Wednesday May 23rd has already stimulated a lot of interest.

Well known high street retailers, leading f.m.c.g. companies, a building society and an interesting mix of agencies have already registered for what promises to be an engaging morning.

But our early bird booking offer expires on Friday April 27th, so to take immediate advantage, click here for the full seminar programme and to book two delegate places for the price of one – £45.00 + VAT.

Delegates will also receive a 5% voucher off of their first subsequent door drop booking.

If you are an agency, why not bring along one of your clients?

Guest article

In recent months, we have been privileged to publish some articles from a number of leading industry figures, but this month we are absolutely delighted to welcome a contribution from Marc Michaels.

As the former Director of Direct and Relationship Marketing at the COI, Marc was (and still is!) a universally respected and much sought after speaker and commentator on direct marketing issues and topics.

Now a freelance marketing consultant, Marc is somebody marketers should take advice from and listen to, so his article on the role door drops play in the marketplace is a must read for all our newsletter subscribers – whatever your background.

Royal Mail door drops

The new rate card is now of course in place, with increased charges, new price bands and reduced, long term booking cycles.

So if you are looking for help or guidance when implementing door drop campaigns which wholly or partially utilise the strengths of the Royal Mail service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

One particularly interesting, new development is the ability to deliver items which weigh in excess of 100 grammes. At a time when postal charges are also about to increase, does this create an opportunity for advertisers conducting “cold” direct mail activity to test door drops?

If you are advertiser mailing envelopes, magazines or catalogues, it could be worthwhile having a chat?

If you have a small amount of surplus stock from a current direct mail programme, it would relatively easy to piece together a door drop test?

In the lead up to early June long Bank Holiday weekend, we have already started to experience a few issues in accessing postal sectors in w/c May 28th, so if you have not completed your booking cycle yet – get in touch soon!

The situation is not (yet!) desperate, but can only deteriorate further as each week slips by.

TLC offers a FREE door drop postal sector review service to determine availability, so take advantage now.

Royal Mail will operate to earlier than usual stock delivery deadlines for w/c June 11th because of the Bank Holidays, so if you are completing activity that week, factor extra days into your production schedule. Contact us for more specific information.

Following the meeting held at the DMA’s offices on January 24th,there have been no further updates coming out of the DMA, but we will keep you abreast of the situation.
