Today’s Breaking News – Royal Mail service changes

by Neal Dodd on 28/04/2020

Royal Mail have announced a change to the delivery of addressed mail – specifically letters – as they continue to react to the COVID-19 situation.

The good news is that distribution of door to door remains unaffected and your door drop bookings will continue to be carried out on time and in full.

As with this news, we will continue to keep our network updated with news relating to the door to door service provided by Royal Mail and also by our team network.

The temporary change put in place today will mean that Royal Mail will not deliver letters on a Saturday, apart from all “Signed For” items, irrespective of format.

This means that the delivery of letters will be restricted to Monday to Friday of any given week.

Therefore, all door to door bookings will be carried out between Monday to Friday, as opposed to the usual Monday to Saturday period that clients will be familiar with.

The reason for this change is specifically related to Royal Mail’s ongoing commitment to implement necessary social distancing measures and deal with coronavirus-related absences.

It is also linked to the fact that Royal Mail are experiencing an increase in parcel volumes as more people shop online and need to redeploy resources appropriately to help manage the demand on their staff.

Throughout the COVID-19 situation, Royal Mail have been very accommodating to door to door clients and we’re delighted to say that every door drop booking for our clients has been carried out in full and without complaint.

The service continues to act as a vital communications channel for many organisations across the UK and we’re pleased that Royal Mail remains able to provide the service in full across the UK, without exception.
