Christmas & New Year Door Drop Planning Advice

by Team on 14/10/2013

If you are planning door drop activity in the period December 23rd – January 6th, you need to be aware of availability limitations for some services and logistical deadlines for all services.

The loss of days due to Bank Holidays in the weeks 23 & 30/12 will see earlier than usual bulk delivery deadlines for w/c 30/12 and 6/1.

Many suppliers are still finalising details of their services, but as at October 7th, the situation is as follows :

W/c December 23rd

Royal Mail door to door – plan a full delivery service obviously restricted to the 23rd, 24th & 27th.

Free newspapers – it is anticipated that only a few newspapers may publish and those that do will probably only run to reduced circulation levels.

Solus teams – again very limited availability is anticipated.

W/c December 30th

Royal Mail door to door – plan a full delivery service though no deliveries on the 1st (and the 2nd in Scotland).

Free newspapers – more newspapers are expected to publish, but once again, those that do will probably only run to reduced circulation levels.

Solus teams – greater availability is expected, though its unlikely that all teams will work.

W/c January 6th

Its expected that all services will return to normal.

Bulk supply availability

For w/c 23/12 Royal Mail work to normal deadlines (6 days in advance), but where free newspaper and solus drops may be available, supplies may be sought as early as the 17/18th.

For w/c 30/12 Royal Mail will again work to normal deadlines (6 days in advance), but where free newspaper and solus drops may be available, supplies may be sought as early as the 20th.

For w/c 6/1 Royal Mail have yet to release deadlines and they may be as early as 20th/23rd. Free newspapers have similarly to release details but we suspect deliveries may be required by the 30th/31st, whilst solus drops are likely to work to the same deadlines as newspapers.

Practical advice would also be to check when your printer is working in w/c 23 & 30/12 – many may close down for the duration!

Door drop booking

This three week cycle is popular with clients such as department stores, shopping centres, gym and fitness chains, holiday/leisure companies, weight loss companies etc., and we have extensive experience of handling those clients types of activity. We are acutely aware of the importance of ensuring competitive items are not distributed at the same time and implement a range of measures that ensures product or service exclusivity is guaranteed as far as is reasonably possible.

The best advice is to book as early as possible and allow us to manage that process for you. Send your details to us through the contact page, email sales@letterboxconsultancy.co.uk, or call 01992 637333 and ask for Graham or Neal, who will be delighted to help you.

We will update this information as more details become available from all of our suppliers.
