Christmas & New Year Door Drop Planning – an update

by Team on 23/10/2013

As at October 23rd, Royal Mail Door to Door have released their bulk supply delivery timeframes for w/c December 23rd through to w/c January 13th 2014 and are making every attempt to make the provision of supplies as easy as possible for clients.

Bulk supplies for each of those weeks can be delivered into Royal Mail depots any time from Monday December 2nd, as shown in the yellow boxes below, but each distribution week will have different deadline dates as follows:

As we recently pointed out in our newsletter, distribution w/c 23/12 will be fragmented because of the Bank Holidays, as will w/c December 30th and our current experience of clients perhaps promoting January sales or seeking to engage with their respective target markets at a time of year which is crucial to many, is that w/c 30th is looking a more popular week.

With the probability of many printers possibly closing from the 20th, or certainly not wishing to bulk deliver after that date, the opportunity of delivering any time from December 2nd is really useful.

And similarly, for those clients seeking door drops in the first two full weeks of January, the opportunity of delivering into RM depots pre Christmas should be very helpful.

There is still no real information available from the free newspaper industry about the actual publication of titles, but guideline bulk delivery deadlines for the key weeks if titles are published are as follows : 23/12/13 – Thursday 12th December, 30/12/13 – Wednesday 18th December, 06/01/14 – Monday 30th December, 13/01/14 – Wednesday January 8th.

Should there be any change to the Royal Mail D2D dates and when more information becomes available about free newspapers, we will of course keep our website up to date with current news, so it will be worth you regularly checking the site or just getting in touch with us for further advice.
