Looking to the future, the door drop suppression scheme, Graham’s new blog and a chance to meet a our new friends!

A belated Happy & Prosperous New Year to you all!

Looking to the future

Easter is on the horizon and we have already begun the door drop planning process for many clients. This commonly starts with refreshing their target market audience by re-profiling respondents to 2011 activity.

From the new analysis, we agree a set of MOSAIC types and then start to produce postal sector ranking reports to the varying types of door drop geography available.

We are happy to provide this service without charge, so please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time for implementation advice.

W/c April 2nd is the lead-in week to the Easter weekend, which, based on historical data, could mean w/c March 26th is a peak week when capacity maximises.

For Royal Mail door drops, there is no financial benefit to late booking and early booking is more likely to guarantee postal sector availability – and if it is important to you, potentially block your competitors’ activity. Every week you can check the latest news on Royal Mail Door Drops by following the link.

Both Royal Mail and free newspapers will operate to earlier than usual deadlines for w/c April  2nd & 9th, so if you are completing activity at this time, factor extra days into your production schedule. Contact us for more specific information.

Even further forward, this will also affect drops for w/c May 7th and w/c June 4th.

Door drop suppression scheme

In November 2011, the DMA and DEFRA signed an agreement for the creation of an opt out scheme to replace the existing DMA Your Choice scheme and Royal Mail D2D’s own opt out scheme.

On January 24th there is an open meeting at the DMA to consider a proposal being tabled by the Door Drop Board.

Reading through the limited amount of information currently available there seems to be a lot of ground to be covered and there are many, many questions to be asked.

TLC will of course be present at the meeting and will keep you informed of developments, as anyone reading this email and with an interest in door drops will be affected.

SMART-Drop update

We continue to spread the word far and wide about the unique SMART-Drop concept, and have a number of new business presentations in the diary between now and March.

Prospective clients are drawn from a wide range, which is very encouraging.

We also continue to encourage more regional publishers to provide their data and are delighted to announce the Express & Star group in the Midlands are the latest group to sign up.

Discussions are continuing with other publishers and we hope to make more announcements soon.

Graham’s blog

New for 2012 is Graham’s Blog to be found under the News section under “Opinion” at www.letterboxconsultancy.co.uk, which will be regularly updated. Click here for his latest comments.

Visit the site on a regular basis for frequent postings regarding industry issues and Graham’s thoughts on them, plus probably a range of random postings highlighting anything and everything Graham has an opinion on!

Speaking engagements

Graham has been invited by a business associate to speak about door drops at five direct marketing seminars in 2012 and the first is in February.

The dates and venue have all been set and once the publicity cycle kicks off for the February event, we will publish further information in our next newsletter, via LinkedIn and on our website.

Meet our new friends

You will hopefully have received our eChristmas card.

You may have noticed that we have made a donation to a local charity rather than absorb the cost of cards and postage, and this year’s charity is the Ada Cole Memorial stables.

Accordingly; Dolly, Finnegan and Misfit are partly cared for by us and clicking the link will show you what a delightful bunch they are!

Both Graham and Neal are Linkedin members and if you are not in our networks, just send us an invitation to join and keep up with our news and postings!

For further general information about TLC’s wide ranging services, a speculative proposal or meeting, call Graham or Neal on 01992 637333, visit either of our websites or email sales@letterboxconsultancy.co.uk.

Our newsletters are designed to keep you updated with industry news, so if any of your colleagues, staff or clients would like to receive future copies of the newsletter, please ask them to visit the Contact Page on our website www.letterboxconsultancy.co.uk and register their interest, or just email us.
