Royal Mail Door to Door – Summer Discount

by Graham Dodd on 09/06/2020

Details of the 2020 Royal Mail Door to Door Summer Incentive have been released and are as follows:

Distribution Period – to qualify, distribution must be planned for between w/c July 13th and w/c August 17th.

Qualification for incentive – if you have not previously used the Royal Mail service in this period, your entire distribution quantity will be eligible for a 20% discount off of rate card prices, providing your total distribution volume is over 50,000.

If you have previously booked distribution in this period, the first 50,000 will be charged based upon rate card, but any incremental volume to previous bookings will be eligible for the 20% discount.

Limitations – this seasonal offer cannot be combined alongside any other existing incentive i.e. the New User rate or the Late Booking incentive.

Considerations – Royal Mail will still require your bulk supplies 6 working days in advance of your preferred distribution. As an example, the deadline for w/c July 13th is Friday 3rd – just a month away.

Action point contact us now. We guarantee you a fast turnaround whether simply booking a set of postal sectors you provide, or reviewing your entire planning and targeting requirements, because for us that’s absolutely key to your promotional activity succeeding.

TLC opinion

The summer incentive from Royal Mail door to door is a repeat of similar incentives over the past few years – at a traditionally low volume point of the calendar year.

HOWEVER… given the ongoing relaxation of the COVID-19 lockdown and the recovery of businesses up and down the country, this incentive now potentially will play an important role in the media plans for businesses who don’t typically advertise during this period.

In 2020, people will still be on holiday in late July/August, but will their habits change and may perhaps staycations become the new norm, with fears over flying?

How many pre-planned trips to buy a new sofa, a new TV or a new kitchen will have been postponed and will now happen in the summer months instead of Easter?

So, are you planning for the Summer and do you see this period as a key trading time for you?

Our approach to targeting can be very different to our competitors, so if you would like a second opinion on activity that will be vitally important for you to get right, feel free to contact us at any time.
