UK HOT WEATHER - DISTRIBUTION UPDATE
With thousands of distributors – across Royal Mail Door to Door, Teams and Free Newspaper Groups – hitting the streets again this week to deliver door drop material, it’s worth considering the potential effects this may have on your campaign timings.
A lot will depend on your chosen distribution method and volume of items.
If your door drop activity is booked with Royal Mail Door to Door, we would expect the distribution to be largely unaffected, though there may be some isolated delays.
Royal Mail Door to Door items are delivered by postal workers who cover individual walks, typically 450-500 homes at a time. The contract period is a week, so there is less time pressure to deliver all items each day.
Team distribution companies will often be working to deliver as many items in one day as possible, and then working to a weekly capacity.
In this scenario, it would be reasonable to expect distributors to work more slowly, take more breaks and potentially cease work where government warnings are in place.
Your leaflet distribution provider should give you updates if this is the case.
Free newspaper rounds are generally as few as 150-200 homes, and we wouldn’t expect delivery to be delayed by more than a day or two.
It is absolutely critical than distributors are looked after in these challenging conditions and we support the efforts to keep each distributor safe.
Where we feel distribution may be affected, we will always communicate this to clients and advise of contingency plans / alternative options where necessary, though this is very rare.
If you’re unsure where this hot weather leaves you in terms of your door drop completion, please get in touch and we’ll give you impartial advice.
